Awakening

The words of Goethe perfectly sum up the past week: "Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one's favour all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way.

It has been exactly like this. After writing that sad and blue post about my cabin fever moment, after hitting a new challenge which made the world feel big and bad, something inside me shifted. I kicked my arse in gear. Enough of this stalemate. Make it happen!

I made a pact with myself. I decided to just go for it. Forget about the snow banks, forget about spring bringing me everything I am dreaming of. I started to travel into Portland for whole days of wandering the city, volunteering in a beautiful writing center, meeting wonderful souls for coffee and the arranging of meditation classes.

I got out of my head. And back into the world.  I made the decision, and providence moved.

A whole stream of events has, indeed, started flowing. It has led to all manner of fascinating projects unfolding. It has made me remember that we have to move - we have to decide, we have to make a commitment to do something. Nothing will fall from the heavens, unless we go outside and look up, and make ourselves available for that
miracle to land.
